Bloomwood, located at 385 Bourke Street, is a refined café and hospitality venue in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, catering to a steady flow of office professionals, shoppers, and city visitors. The project brief centred on delivering a sophisticated yet highly functional shopfit that aligned with Bloomwood’s warm, contemporary brand identity while supporting efficient day-to-day operations in a busy urban setting. Key priorities included a well-planned service counter, streamlined back-of-house workflow, and a welcoming customer interface within a compact footprint. The client sought a clean, elevated aesthetic paired with durable materials suited to high-frequency use.
We delivered the full joinery package, collaborating closely with the client, designer, and project team to fine-tune both layout and materiality. Our focus was on translating the design vision into practical, high-quality joinery solutions that could be manufactured off-site and installed efficiently on-site. All elements—from the front counter to bespoke cabinetry and integrated storage—were custom-built to optimise workflow and maintain a seamless visual language throughout the space.
To reflect Bloomwood’s calm, modern character, we incorporated a palette of light, natural finishes, balanced textures, and clean, minimal detailing. Joinery was carefully designed to conceal services and equipment, ensuring a clutter-free environment while maintaining accessibility for staff. The interface between front-of-house and back-of-house was thoughtfully resolved to support smooth circulation and efficient service during peak periods. Installation was completed within a tight programme to meet the client’s opening schedule.
