HANBAOBAO, located at 369 Elizabeth Street in Melbourne, is a vibrant, contemporary burger eatery positioned in one of the CBD’s busiest pedestrian corridors. Catering to a dynamic mix of students, office workers, and city visitors, the brief called for a bold yet functional shopfit that reflects the brand’s playful, street-food identity while supporting a high-volume, fast-paced service environment. Key requirements included an efficient kitchen and prep zone, a visually engaging service counter, and a clear, intuitive customer flow within a compact tenancy. The client’s direction emphasised a fitout that is eye-catching, welcoming, and highly durable to withstand constant daily use.
We delivered the full joinery scope, collaborating closely with the client, designer, and trades to refine both layout and material selections. Our focus was on translating the design vision into practical, buildable joinery solutions, with extensive off-site prefabrication to streamline installation. From the feature service counter to custom shelving and integrated storage, all joinery was tailored to optimise kitchen workflow and enable fast, efficient service.
To reinforce HANBAOBAO’s energetic brand identity, we introduced bold yet durable finishes, clean detailing, and robust materials suited to heavy traffic. Joinery elements were designed to discreetly house equipment and services, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance. The interface between front-of-house and kitchen was carefully planned to support smooth staff movement during peak hours, while preserving a seamless customer journey. Installation was executed within tight timelines to meet the scheduled opening.
