Matcha Mate, located at Matcha Mate, is a contemporary café concept centred around premium matcha and modern, health-focused beverages. Positioned within a vibrant inner-city neighbourhood, the venue caters to a mix of local residents, creatives, and daily commuters. The brief called for a clean, engaging shopfit that reflected the brand’s calm yet energetic identity, while supporting a fast-paced takeaway and dine-in experience. Key priorities included a highly functional preparation area, a visually striking service counter, and a clear, intuitive customer flow within a compact footprint. The client sought a space that felt fresh, minimal, and durable enough to handle consistent daily traffic.
We delivered the full joinery package, collaborating closely with the client and project team to refine both layout and materiality. Our focus was on translating the design vision into practical, buildable solutions that could be efficiently fabricated off-site and installed with minimal disruption. From the main service counter to integrated storage and display elements, all joinery was custom-built to optimise workflow and support quick, consistent service.
To align with Matcha Mate’s modern and calming aesthetic, we utilised a palette of light tones, natural textures, and clean detailing. Joinery was carefully designed to conceal equipment and services, maintaining a seamless and uncluttered appearance. The interface between front-of-house and back-of-house was resolved to ensure smooth staff movement during peak periods, while preserving a clear and welcoming customer zone. Installation was completed within a tight programme to meet the planned opening schedule.
The completed space is refined, fresh, and highly functional, capturing Matcha Mate’s brand identity through a balance of simplicity and detail.
