Midnight Canteen, located at Shop 1/25 Rushton St, Werribee VIC 3030, is a late-night dining space designed to cater to locals, students, and visitors looking for comfort food and quick service in a modern setting. The brief was to deliver a practical and welcoming shopfit that reflected the brand’s casual, approachable identity while handling the demands of extended trading hours. The space needed to include a compact but efficient kitchen, a bold and functional service counter, and seating that supported both dine-in and takeaway flow. The client emphasised a relaxed, urban-inspired atmosphere with finishes that balance durability and style.
We managed the full joinery package, working closely with the client, designer, and trades to ensure the layout was optimised for both customer experience and operational ease. The design intent was carefully translated into custom-built joinery elements fabricated off-site and installed seamlessly to minimise downtime. Key pieces included a feature counter, integrated storage, and tailored shelving that aligned with the venue’s branding and service requirements.
To capture the mood of Midnight Canteen, we used darker-toned laminates, textured finishes, and strong linear detailing that give the space a contemporary edge. Equipment and cabling were concealed within the joinery, ensuring a clean presentation without sacrificing functionality. The flow between front-of-house and kitchen was refined so staff could move efficiently during peak hours, keeping service smooth and customer wait times minimal. All work was delivered to a tight schedule to support the venue’s launch.
The completed fitout is bold, efficient, and on-brand, striking the right balance between atmosphere and practicality. Midnight Canteen now operates with a layout that supports heavy daily use while maintaining a distinctive look. Customers enjoy an inviting, urban-style interior, while staff benefit from a streamlined workspace designed for efficiency.
