O-Bento Collins Place is a Japanese eatery nestled in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, specifically at Shop 46, 45 Collins Street, within the Collins Place Plaza. Catering primarily to professionals and city workers, it offers a convenient spot for a quick and satisfying meal during the workday.
We delivered the full joinery scope—from initial planning and layout to fabrication and on-site installation. Engaging early with the client gave us valuable insight into how the business operates during peak periods, which shaped our approach to both layout design and joinery detailing. We carried out comprehensive site measurements and coordinated closely with designers, trades, and centre management to ensure a smooth, well-integrated build.
All components were fabricated in our workshop to exact specifications, including a custom-designed service counter featuring integrated display areas, hidden waste solutions, and under-bench storage. Finishes included durable laminates, stainless steel benchtops, and splashbacks—chosen for their hygiene, compliance, and alignment with the brand’s vibrant aesthetic. Compact shelving, tailored signage, and strategically placed fridges, prep areas, and POS units maximised functionality without compromising visual appeal.
Installation was carefully scheduled outside of peak trading hours, with our team remaining flexible throughout to handle last-minute changes and meet handover deadlines.
The finished fit-out creates a compact, efficient workspace that balances functionality for staff with an inviting experience for customers. Joey’s Doughies’ brand identity is clearly expressed through bright, clean finishes and thoughtfully scaled elements that make the most of the limited footprint without feeling overcrowded. The back-of-house area connects seamlessly with the service counter, enabling smooth, fast-paced operations during peak periods.
Durable, low-maintenance materials were selected to support long-term performance, while the open, well-lit design helps attract foot traffic from the street. The final result is a physical space that not only captures the brand’s energy but also meets the practical needs of a high-volume food retail setting. The project was completed on time, on spec, and with strong client satisfaction.
